Welcome
Hello, my name is Lux, I’m an artist based in Queens New York.
Thank you for stopping by, I hope you are moved to feel here, explore your emotions with me and perhaps let your eyes dance a bit along the way. Its a pleasure to share my art with you.
Below you will find my latest series, throughout the pages of this site you find final pieces, as well as pages shared from my sketch book. My wish is that you come away with more on the mind, not to burden you, but rather to show us all a release; freedom through expression.
LUX NEW SERIES: ITCHY
ITCH is a series of illustrations that are born from the feeling of deep despair that seeps in the cracks of day to day life. We witness great tragedy daily, well if you’re paying attention at least. I often feel Im watching the decay of all of us, the rotting of humanity. The bright screens and the fast lives, all while we rocket towards epic collapse. I don’t say this to instigate fear, I don’t say this because I lack hope. I say this because I watch and I listen and I am left feeling sad. Deeply sad. A sad that makes my bones ache and my spirit moan, if you claim to not feel sad right now, I feel sad for you. To lose the sadness in this sea of madness is to be already dead, rotting, decaying… I hope for life, I pray for peace, I work for community, I feel sad with the hope to be glad.
The Silver Series - ITCH.2:
Each piece from the Silver Series - ITCH works as a reflection to aspects of the original ITCH series. Through layers of color coated in silver, lines come to life, eyes are the window to our soul are they not? Mouths sing, and whisper, and pout do they not? To express ones self is to have freedom, rather to express ones self when in disgust, disappointment, or disagreement without fear of retaliation or harmful consequence is freedom.
Reflections of emotions I feel we all share, reflections of fears, and sadness that left un-faced will take more and more away from us.
Feeling it isn’t easy, it takes bravery, it takes stillness, it takes kindness and patience. I believe we all have what it takes to face ourselves with the love and kindness this world is craving. I believe we all have what it takes to look in the mirror.
Look in a mirror, as how you feel, even if for only a moment stand with me, with you.
